Course Description: If you've already taken Sewing I, or you're proficient in sewing, this intermediate class will help take your skills up a thimble or two.Dive deeper into developing your pressing skills, exploring time-saving sewing techniques and advancements and perfecting your pattern fitting abilities.
Prerequisite: Completion of Sewing I or advanced sewing skills (to be determined by course instructor).
1.Pleating and gathering
2.Proper pressing techniques
3.Installation of zippers and buttons
4.Basics of elastic and drawstrings
6.Proper waistband and hem placement

·straight pins (dressmaker or quilt pins)
·pin cushion of choice
·six-inch seam or hem gauge
·tracing wheel and paper
·marking pencil, chalk or sliver of soap
·bobbins to fit your machine
·appropriate fabric yardage for sewing project
·hand and machine needles
·miscellaneous sewing equipment, i.e. scissors, pins, needles, etc.
Teaching Methodology and Assessment: Hands-on/interactive class with one-on-one assistance from the instructor.
Criteria for Successful Completion*:To receive a Clayton State University Continuing Education Certificate and CEUs, you must attend 80% of the class sessions, actively participate and complete a course evaluation. Exams/quizzes may be administered and graded to assess the student’s ability. Passing the final exam with a 75%, or better will be an indicator of successful learning along with a final project will be part of the requirement.
